From your first download to your next ready-up. Join a community server or host a game for friends.

Windows guide · Updated for windows39

01 / Install or update

  1. Download LaserLeagueRevival.exe, the Windows updater, and open it.
  2. Choose an empty folder for a new installation. Already playing? Choose your existing Revival game folder, containing GameProject and support.
  3. Click Update & open lobby. Let the download and verification finish. The browser launcher opens when it is ready.

Keep the whole game folder together. Normal updates preserve player settings, cosmetics, emotes, and saves. Close the game and click Quit launcher in any existing web launcher before updating.

For later sessions, Laser League Revival.exe inside the game folder opens an Online / Offline chooser. PLAY.cmd opens the web launcher directly. Use the updater periodically to check for releases.

02 / Make it yours

  1. Enter your Player name. It saves when you open a session.
  2. Choose Borderless to fill your primary display, or Windowed and a resolution.
  3. Before joining, click the burgundy Customize character in game button to change your appearance or emotes. Make your selections in the original game menu, then close the game normally to return to the launcher.
  4. Set Color-blind mode if needed. Controller ability remapping is under Additional options; the default is RB / R1.

Remapping swaps the selected button’s other gameplay action onto RB / R1. Menu and keyboard controls stay unchanged. These settings apply on your next game launch.

03 / Join a server

  1. Click the Join a server tab.
  2. Choose US-East or EU-UK from the server dropdown. Start with the region nearest you.
  3. Leave Manual IP empty for those servers. If it contains an old address, click Clear manual IP. Anything entered here overrides the dropdown.
  4. Choose your starting side, then click Join server →.
  5. Wait for your name to appear in the lobby roster. Keep the browser launcher running alongside the game.
Joining a friend or another server? Put the address the host gives you in Manual IP, then click Join server. This same tab works for dedicated servers and player-hosted games.

04 / Choose a side and ready up

  1. Check the two team columns in your web lobby. They show players, ready status, and lobby ping.
  2. Use the team buttons to switch sides before the match. Team names and colors follow the arena.
  3. Click Ready up. The server starts its countdown once its readiness and player requirements are met.
  4. When the match starts, switch to the game and choose your class. Automatically switch between game and lobby can handle window switching on Windows; use Alt+Tab if needed.

A game sitting on a loading or introduction screen can be waiting for the web lobby. Check the browser’s status instead of trying to ready up in the game.

Arrived during a match? You may be queued for the next lobby. Follow the status shown in your launcher and wait for the current match to finish.

05 / Vote and play another

The web lobby lets you vote for the next map and, where enabled by the server, match rules, bot fill, and bot difficulty. Votes apply to the next match; the server can override them. The launcher displays the current result.

Standard games support up to eight players. Duel needs two humans, one per side, without bot fill. Bot difficulty choices are Very Easy, Easy, Medium, and Hard.

  1. After a match, watch the MVP results for the time set by the host or server.
  2. Keep the game open. Connected players follow the next map automatically.
  3. Return to the browser lobby, adjust your side or votes, and ready up again.

When finished, leave with Stop session where available, close the game, and click Quit launcher. Closing just the browser tab leaves the launcher running.

Host your own game

  1. Choose Host a game.
  2. Select match rules, stadium, arena, and MVP results delay. Enable bot fill and choose a difficulty if you want bots; standard bot-fill matches can start with one human.
  3. Click Open host lobby. Share your reachable address privately with friends.
  4. Friends choose Join a server, enter your address under Manual IP, and join.
  5. Arrange the teams and ready up. Follow the host lobby’s start prompt.

Hosting across the Internet needs a reachable host, using the appropriate firewall/port-forwarding setup or a shared virtual LAN. Joining a listed community server does not require hosting one yourself.

After MVP results, a self-hosted game loads the same or voted map and returns to ready-up. Everyone should keep their game open.

Quick fixes

Client / server mismatch
Close the game, click Quit launcher, and run the updater. Do not copy a token from another version. If the latest client is refused, ask in Discord; the server may need updating.
Wrong server or connection fails
Clear Manual IP and reselect your region. Check the community’s Discord server-status channel before retrying.
Stuck waiting to start
Check the web lobby: is everyone ready, are you queued, and are player requirements met? A lone player needs bot fill enabled for a standard bot match.
Customization will not open
Leave your current game session first. Customize before joining, then close that game window normally.
Custom map mismatch
Everyone needs the same map files as the host. Maps are not downloaded automatically on joining; update your client or obtain the matching map from the host.

Still stuck? Ask in Discord with your client version, server name, error text, and what you clicked.
